Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

    Handmade Holiday Crafts

    Get ready for the holidays in our Handmade Holiday Crafts class. Join us as we create delightful Christmas decorations and gifts. In this hands-on course, students will design and craft a variety of fun projects, including ornaments, bracelets, and no-sew blankets. Perfect for sharing with family!

  • Game Day Spirit & Leadership

    Game Day Spirit & Leadership

    This dynamic enrichment course is designed to develop a passionate, organized, and supportive student section to cheer on our athletic teams during games. Students will learn the art of creating an inclusive, high-energy atmosphere that fosters school spirit and motivates our athletes and the entire student body. Through hands-on projects, students will design game day themes, provide ideas to ASB for pep rallies, organize fan engagement activities, and promote a positive and respectful sports culture. This course emphasizes leadership, teamwork, creativity, and community-building skills, providing students with tools to enhance school pride and unify the student body in support of our teams.

    Cricut Crafts

    In this course students will explore the magic of Cricut. Students will design and create many crafts, such as t-shirts, cups, mugs, gifts, etc. Students will have fun designing their own gifts when customizing cards, unique apparel, or everyday items.

    This class will cover basic grappling movements, such as takedowns, and engaging the use the upper- lower body for confidence building on or off the mat.

    Join our dynamic afterschool leadership class, where students will develop essential skills to become confident leaders in their schools and communities.     Welcome to the exciting world of LEGO! In this class, students will unleash their creativity and problem-solving skills through hands-on building with LEGO bricks. From constructing simple structures to creating intricate designs, students will engage in activities that promote teamwork, critical thinking, and innovation. Whether building a replica of a famous landmark or designing their own unique creations, students will develop spatial awareness, fine motor skills, and attention to detail.   • Gaming Club

    Join us for an exciting journey into the world of esports and gaming fitness! In this course, students will enjoy exploring classic board games along with modern gaming platforms like Switch and Wii. The main goal of the course is to help young students grasp the importance of following rules, honing strategic and critical thinking skills, and fostering cooperative play with others in the context of both traditional and digital gaming. Come and be a part of the fun!

  • LVMS GATE PRESENTS: GAME FACTORY

    This course is a math simulation called Game Factory. In this activity , students will experiment with games to develop an understanding of probability. They will take a make-believe tour of a game factory and work in pairs to predict the outcome of games and test the results. If the games are not fair, students will make changes to make sure that each person playing has an equal chance of winning. Using spinners, coins, dice, and cards, students will practice predicting outcomes, collecting data, organizing information, and graphing. During the last few sessions, students will work in groups to design their own "fair" game. Each group will present their game ideas to the class and explain the reasons why the game is fair.
