Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Parents, please make sure to check the grade levels on classes before registering. Please note that students that register for classes later than 2:30pm will have to be picked up after school and dropped off for their class unless they attend the after school POWER program.

    Slime

    Learning how to create different types of slime

    Grades: 3 & 5

    The students will be taught basic cheerleading skills, dances and cheers.

    Clay Arts and Crafts

    Students will create clay projects. Students will use unique techniques and imagination. Students will develop creative thinking in a stress free environment.

    LEGO STEM

    Students will be engaging in an exciting activity involving LEGO bricks. They will have the opportunity to build and participate in a variety of themed challenges that aim to promote critical thinking, imagination, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, this activity will encourage teamwork as they work collaboratively in teams.

    Grades: K, 1, 2, 3

    We will be working on a holiday wreath, along with some diamond art, holiday bracelets and coloring.

    Students will be using instant film cameras to add pictures to their own photo albums. They will get creative and decorate their album as well!

    Football: Rules, Terminology, and Skills

    Students will be taught basic football terminology and rules, as well as be given an opportunity to learn and increase their skills associated with football.

    STEAM Olympiad Math Games

    This class is open to all 4th and 5th grade students who are interested in learning how to play Sudoku, Mancala, Contig, and Circle Tic Tac Toe. Students will be invited to try out for our school Math Team if they wish to do so.

  • G.A.T.E. Fairy Tales & More

    G.A.T.E. Fairy Tales & More

    G.A.T.E Students will venture the land of Fairy Tales where we will read classic stories together and have deep discussions. Culminating activity will be shared at the GATE Festival.

    Battle of the Books

    Students will be reading books on the Battle of the Books list and taking AR quizzes. We will be practicing battle rounds as well.
